Pakistan · for owners who sign for every rupee

Your khata went digital years ago. Your business didn't.

Pakistan taught the world the digital khata — millions of udhaar ledgers moved from paper to the phone. But a khata is one person's notebook. The float you handed your worker, the shelf, the site expenses, the three shops — those are many hands, and a one-hand ledger cannot hold them. i-shim is the many-hands ledger: your people record; nothing posts until you approve it. In rupees, on the phone already in your pocket.

The whole shop in one record

Ledger, stock and parties — written once, settled everywhere

Three engines share every entry. Record a purchase once and the expense ledger, the stock count and the supplier balance all move together — or not at all, if you have not approved it yet.

📒 The dues ledger, grown up

Income, expenses, per-worker cash floats with ceilings, daily net — the udhaar khata's discipline, extended to the whole business and gated by your approval.

🏭 Stock counted as it moves

Goods in, goods out, consumption and per-item cost, recorded at the moment of movement by the person moving it — not reconstructed at stock-taking.

🤝 Parties with a balance and a date

Every customer and supplier carries a live balance and a due date. Who owes, who is owed, and since when — without flipping pages.

What the app actually holds

Six rooms of one shop

✅ Approval before the ink dries

Every worker entry waits at your gate. Approve and it posts; return it and it never touched the books. For people you trust fully, you can open the gate — per person, your call.

💰 Cash in named pockets

Each worker holds a capped float in their own name. Spending is recorded against it with a receipt photo, passes approval, and the remaining balance is visible to you both.

📦 A shelf that answers

Current count, cost and movement history per item — the store-room stops being a place you discover things in and becomes a page you read.

🧾 Internal documents

Purchases, sales and control invoices that keep your internal record straight — clearly not the FBR stamped document, which we do not issue and say so below.

🏢 Two shops, one phone

The store, the transport side-business and the brother's branch — separate companies, separate books and teams, one login.

📊 Tonight's number

Daily net, project cost, who-spent-what — the evening question answered before the shutter is down, not at month-end.

How a record earns its place

Four gates between a tap and your books

1 · The worker writes it

Fuel, a purchase, a stock move — recorded by the person living it, at the counter, with a photo of the paper.

2 · It knocks

The record exists and is visible as pending — but no balance has moved. Nothing counts yet.

3 · You open, or you don't

You or a manager you named sees the amount, the note, the photo. Yes posts it. No returns it with your reason attached.

4 · The book stays clean

Month-end is a read, not an investigation — everything in the ledger got there past your gate.

What is specific to Pakistan

Measured against FBR's calendar — and against ourselves

🏛️ FBR digital invoicing — and where we stand

Since 31 December 2025, every sales-tax-registered person in Pakistan must report invoices to FBR's system (via PRAL) in real time and hand the customer a stamped document — SRO 69(I)/2025 wrote the rules, SRO 1852(I)/2025 phased everyone in between 1 September and 1 December 2025. i-shim is NOT integrated with FBR or PRAL and does not issue that stamped invoice. If you are registered, a licensed integration is your entry ticket; i-shim runs beside it as the internal control ledger the stamped channel never sees.

💵 Rupees on both sides — a rare good number

Apple's Pakistani storefront bills subscriptions in PKR, and the app keeps your company books in PKR too — mapping and ledger both. No dollar appears between you and your numbers on either side.

🗣️ English complete — Urdu absent, said out loud

English is an official language of Pakistani business and the app's English is 100% complete. But Urdu — the national language — is not among the 14 interface languages today. We would rather you read that here than discover it after inviting your crew.

🗺️ Six city names we owe you

The setup wizard knows 12 Pakistani cities, but six are stored in Turkish spellings — «Karaçi», «Lahor», «Ravalpindi», «Haydarabad», «Pişaver» and «İslamabad» with a Turkish dotted İ — and the province layer (Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan) is missing entirely. Both are logged as defects, with an apology; free-text entry works meanwhile.

🧾 Tax, split two ways — computed by neither of us

Sales tax on goods is 18% federal; services are taxed by the provinces — 13% in Sindh (SRB), 16% in Punjab (PRA), around 15% elsewhere. i-shim computes none of it: the in-app default rate field shows 20, Turkey's rate, two points above the federal goods rate — you type your own, and your tax adviser stays in charge.

📱 The khata wave, saluted

Udhaar Book, DigiKhata and CreditBook moved millions of udhaar ledgers to the phone — Karachi built a whole industry on it. That wave did our market education for us: nobody in Pakistan needs convincing that books belong on a phone. What the wave did not build is the many-hands ledger — and that is exactly where i-shim begins.

What i-shim does NOT do

Read this before week two does it for you
  • No FBR / PRAL integration. We do not issue the stamped digital invoice that sales-tax-registered persons must produce — a licensed integration does that; we are the ledger beside it.
  • No Urdu interface. Fourteen languages, English complete — Urdu is not among them today.
  • No tax or payroll computation. Neither the 18% federal sales tax nor provincial service rates, and none of EOBI or provincial social security.
  • No JazzCash, Easypaisa or bank connection. Movements are recorded; money is never moved, held or transferred.
  • Six city names stored in Turkish and no province layer — logged defects, free-text entry meanwhile.
  • No offline mode. Cloud-backed; a connection is required.
  • Data is hosted in western Europe, not in Pakistan.
  • No online store or POS. i-shim manages the inside of the business, not the sales counter or a web shop.

From download to first approval

One afternoon, no consultant

1 · Install

App Store, Google Play or the browser — there is no dealer and no installation visit, because there is nothing to install beyond the app.

2 · Found the company

Name, currency (PKR), your workplaces. Three minutes, and the wizard apologises for its city spellings.

3 · Seat the crew

Invite each worker by phone number; each gets a login scoped to their own job and nothing more.

4 · Set the gate

Name your approvers — yourself, or managers you trust. From that moment nothing enters the books unapproved.

An honest comparison

The khata wave did its job — here is where each tool belongs

Udhaar Book, DigiKhata and CreditBook are excellent at what they set out to do; several do things we do not. This table is written to be quoted.

If you are one person with an udhaar book, a khata app may honestly be all you need. The day a second pair of hands touches your money is the day the approval gate starts paying for itself.

Questions, answered straight

Including the expensive ones
What is i-shim?

A business-management app built around one gate: nothing reaches your books until it is approved. Your people record expenses, purchases, stock movements and cash spending from their own phones; every record waits — counted nowhere — until you or a manager you name says yes. Around that gate live customer and supplier ledgers, inventory, internal invoices, per-worker cash floats, projects and daily reports, for one company or several under one login.

Is this another khata app?

No — and we say it with respect. Udhaar Book, DigiKhata and CreditBook did something real: they moved millions of Pakistani udhaar ledgers from paper to the phone. But a khata is one person's notebook. i-shim is built for the moment your business stops being one person: your worker writes the entry, and it does not touch the ledger until you approve it. That approval gate is the whole difference.

Is the free tier really permanent?

Yes. It is a tier, not a trial — it does not expire. Extended features come with store-priced subscriptions you can see inside the app, and receiving-side features stay free for your workers.

Does i-shim issue FBR digital invoices?

No. Since 31 December 2025 every sales-tax-registered person in Pakistan must report invoices to FBR's system in real time and hand the customer a stamped document. i-shim is NOT integrated with FBR or PRAL and does not issue that document. If you are sales-tax-registered, you need a licensed integration for the stamped invoice — i-shim runs beside it as your internal control ledger, never instead of it.

Are the books kept in rupees?

Yes, on both sides — a rare good number. Apple's Pakistani storefront bills subscriptions in PKR, and inside the app your company ledger runs in PKR too. No dollar surprise on either side.

Is there an Urdu interface?

Not yet, and we say it plainly. The app ships in 14 languages — English is complete, and English is an official language of Pakistan's business and government — but Urdu, the national language, is not among the 14 today.

How does the approval chain actually work?

A worker records an expense, a purchase or a stock movement. The record knocks: it exists, visibly pending, but no balance moves. You — or a manager you authorised — open it, see the amount, the note and the document photo, and approve or return it. Only approval posts it. You can also switch the gate off for people you trust fully; the gate is yours either way.

Can I run more than one business in one account?

Yes. A general store and a transport side-business, or three branches as separate workplaces — separate books, separate teams, separate reports, one login.

What do my workers see?

Only what you give them. Each worker gets a login scoped to their job: the one who records fuel sees the fuel float, not the bank balance. Owner-level numbers stay with the owner.

Does it handle cash floats?

Yes — this is a core module. You hand each worker a capped float; they record spending against it from their phone with a photo of the receipt; every spend passes your approval; the float's remaining balance is visible to you both at all times.

Does it track stock?

Yes. Goods in, goods out, consumption, per-item cost and current shelf count — and because entries pass approval, the shelf and the book stay in agreement instead of drifting apart until stock-taking day.

Does it connect to JazzCash, Easypaisa or my bank?

No. i-shim records movements; it never moves money. There is no wallet, no transfer, no custody, and no bank or mobile-money connection. You record what happened; the money itself moves wherever it already moves.

Does it compute my sales tax or payroll?

No. Pakistan's sales tax is split — 18% federal on goods, provincial rates on services (13% in Sindh, 16% in Punjab) — and i-shim computes none of it, and none of EOBI or provincial social security either. The in-app default rate field shows 20, Turkey's rate; you type your own. Your tax adviser stays your tax adviser.

Does it work offline?

No. i-shim is cloud-backed and needs a connection; on a slow link it tells you so gently rather than pretending. There is no offline entry mode today.

Where is my data kept?

On servers in western Europe — not in Pakistan. If Pakistan-resident hosting is a requirement for you, we are not that today, and we would rather say it here than have you discover it in week two.

What does it cost?

The core is a permanently free tier. Extended tiers are store subscriptions — prices are shown in PKR inside the App Store and Google Play listings, set per storefront by the stores. We do not print numbers here because the stores are the truth.

How long does starting take?

An afternoon. Download from the store, create the company, invite your people by phone number, name your approvers. There is no dealer, no installation visit, no consultant — which also means no one to blame but us if the app does not explain itself.

Can I move my existing khata records in?

There is no one-tap import from khata apps. You start your parties (customers and suppliers) with their opening balances, and the ledgers grow from there. Bulk entry from a bank-statement file exists for financial records.

Which cities does the setup wizard know?

Twelve Pakistani cities — and we owe you an apology here: six of them are stored in TURKISH spellings today («Karaçi», «Lahor», «Ravalpindi», «Haydarabad», «Pişaver», «İslamabad» with a Turkish dotted İ) instead of Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Peshawar, Islamabad. The province layer (Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan) is missing entirely. Both are logged as defects; you can type your city freely meanwhile.
